Do active military personnel, firefighters, police officers or teachers get in free?
Yes. Active military personnel, Chicago firefighters, Chicago police officers and Illinois teachers can receive free general admission for themselves by showing a current I.D. when purchasing tickets.

Is photography allowed in the Museum?
Yes. Photos and videotapes for personal use may be taken inside the Museum, except in the Omnimax Theater and in certain special exhibits or presentations. Due to safety concerns, tripods are not allowed. Photos, videotapes or audiotapes for any other use require advance notice and the express prior written permission of the Museum’s Public Relations Department.

Does the Museum have strollers and wheelchairs for rent?
Yes. They are available in the Great Hall and in the Henry Crown Space Center. Stroller rental is $2 and wheelchairs are free. Both require a driver’s license or I.D.

Is the Museum Accessible to Guests with Disabilities?
Yes. The Museum’s two primary guest entrances (through the Great Hall and at the Henry Crown Space Center) are wheelchair accessible, and elevators and ramps serve all public areas within the building. Reasonable efforts have been made to eliminate or mitigate existing barriers to accessibility within the historic Museum buildings, and reasonable accommodations are made for disabled guests when physical conditions would otherwise prevent them from full access to a Museum exhibit or program.

How can I purchase Museum merchandise?
If you forgot to pick up an Omnimax DVD, a fluffy chick or a plush Einstein while at the Museum, visit our online store. For a shopping experience that’s beyond unique, visit The Big Idea, The Galaxy Shop or The Kid’s Stop Shop at the Museum. They’ve got everything from the educational to the out-of-this-world!

Due to IRS regulations, the Museum can not offer this service.

How can I donate an item to the Museum?
To donate an item to the Museum, call the donation hotline at (773) 684-9844 Ext. 2174.

How can I obtain a donation from the Museum for a fundraiser?
To obtain a donation from the Museum, send your request, in writing, on your organization’s letterhead two months prior to the fundraising event.  You must also include a copy of your 501(c)3, which proves that your organization is a non-profit in the State of Illinois. The organization making the request must focus on formal or informal education at the primary and secondary levels.
