SPACEX DRAGON SPACECRAFT LANDS AT THE MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND INDUSTRY (MSI)

(November 29, 2022 - CHICAGO) - On Thursday, December 1, the Museum of Science and Industry will welcome the arrival of a SpaceX Dragon cargo spacecraft to its Henry Crown Space Center collection.

To celebrate the Dragon's arrival, MSI is offering free Museum Entry for all guests to experience a series of space-themed programming throughout the day. This will feature a welcome ceremony on the front lawn of the Museum where guests can view the Dragon before it makes it way to the Henry Crown Space Center where the permanent exhibit opens in spring 2023.

"MSI is always at the forefront of showcasing human achievement in science and industry. And today, as we see the future happening before our eyes in the area of space travel and exploration, there is no better way to propel our mission to inspire the inventive genius in everyone than with the arrival of the SpaceX Dragon cargo spacecraft," said Chevy Humphrey, President and CEO of the Museum of Science and Industry. "This spacecraft is the embodiment of curiosity, wonder, scientific method, hard work, and the American 'how-to' spirit. This represents the future of science and industry, now, at MSI."

Founded in 2002, SpaceX (Space Exploration Technologies Corporation) is a Hawthorne, California-based spacecraft manufacturer and space transportation provider. In 2006, the company unveiled the Dragon spacecraft, and MSI will receive a twice flight-proven Dragon cargo spacecraft.

"Similar to the arrival of other historic artifacts like the U-505 submarine and the 727 airliner, welcoming the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft to MSI will be a day which will live in the hearts and memories of Chicagoans for generations," said Humphrey.
